Yenni is a journalist with around 30 years of experience. Before joining Mongabay, she worked for international and local media outlets, such as Time magazine, the New York Times, Agence France-Presse, CNN, and the Environmental Reporting Collective (ERC), among others. She has written and edited stories about human rights, the environment, politics, etc., in Asia, including Indonesia, Hong Kong, and beyond. She also taught journalism at the University of Hong Kong and trained journalists in digital verification.
