Caleb Hearon, a comedian, writer, and actor best known for his HBO special “Model Comedian” and his podcast “So True with Caleb Hearon,” has long been vocal in support of the LGBTQ+ community, specifically transgender individuals.
And for Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31, 2026, he put his money where his mouth is.
“I am matching $15,000 in donations to Trans Justice Funding Project today,” he announced on Instagram. “Just tag me or DM me your receipt.”
Trans Justice Funding Project is a nonprofit that has funded grassroots trans justice groups run by and for trans people in the United States since 2012.
Every year, a panel of six trans justice activists reviews grant applications and distributes funds to organizers focused on confronting racism, economic injustice, transmisogyny, ableism, immigration, incarceration, and other “intersecting oppressions,” according to the nonprofit.
“Every penny we raise goes to our grantees with no restrictions and no strings attached because we truly believe in trans leadership,” TJFP writes on its website.

Hearon noted on a separate Instagram story post that he’ll be donating the total $15,000 regardless of whether fans contribute the same amount.
Still, he encouraged people to support the organization in honor of Transgender Day of Visibility, which encourages people to celebrate the joy, resilience, and diversity of the trans community outside of the loss and grief associated with Trans Day of Remembrance.
It’s also an opportunity for allies to speak up on behalf of trans and non-binary people, who face ongoing persecution under the Trump administration.
“The ongoing and intensifying vilification of transgender people in this country is horrendous and nonsensical,” Hearon wrote.
“You have to ask yourself why a government that can’t help you with your rent, groceries, healthcare, or education has so many creative ideas about how to punish a small and harmless community.”
Those interested in supporting the Trans Justice Funding Project can do so by visiting the organization’s website.
