Osea Giuntella is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Pittsburgh. He is also a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research and a Research Fellow of the IZA Institute of Labor Economics.
He received his PhD in Economics from Boston University, and was a post-doc at the University of Oxford (Nuffield College and Blavatnik School of Government) before joining the University of Pittsburgh in 2017.
His research interests are in health, labor and demographic economics. In particular, his recent work has focused on risky health behaviors and mental health with a particular attention to the economic causes and consequences of sleep deprivation, one of the most prevalent risk health behaviors in modern societies.
His work is highly interdisciplinary and has been published in top journals such as PNAS, the Journal of International Economics, the Journal of Health Economics, the Journal of Human Resources, Demography, and many other outlets in the fields of economics, demography, and public health.
