Dr. Sharon Jean-Philippe is Professor of Urban Forestry and the Urban Forestry State Extension Specialist at the University of Tennessee. She currently serves as the faculty advisor for all urban forestry students and is the primary director of several summer internship opportunities for students across multiple disciplines. Dr. Jean-Philippe co-instructs courses in forestry that address vegetation establishment, management, and removal across an urban - rural gradient, legal issues, vegetation utility management, and the effects of societal influences on green infrastructure. She currently holds appointments with the Tennessee Forestry Commission as the Representative of the Public-at-Large and Vice Chair, USDA Forestry Research and Advisory Council, SFI External Review Committee as Vice Chair and is the faculty director for Tennessee Champion Tree Program, Community Riparian Restoration Program and National Champion Tree Program. And is a member of the Society of American Foresters, a member of International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) where she is on the Board of Directors for ISA and serves as the Board President, President of for the National Executive Committee for the Gamma Beta Phi Society, Associate Editor for Journal of Forestry, and Board Member of the Foothills Land Conservancy.
