Bibek is currently a freelance writer and editor, mostly reporting for the South China Morning Post. Mongabay, Foreign Policy, and Lonely Planet. He was formerly the head of news for Sixth Tone in Shanghai, where he also served as a news editor, reporter, and social media producer between 2017 - 2013.

Before moving to China, Bibek was reporting from Nepal and India. He has written for the South China Morning Post, Al Jazeera, CNN, Foreign Policy, Global Post, Huffington Post, The National in the UAE, the German-language Welt Sichten, and Nepal’s Republica The Week.

Bibek started his journalism career as a student reporter at the TCU Daily Skiff newsroom in Fort Worth, Texas, in 2007.

He has interned with Rolling Stone in Mumbai and worked as a correspondent for The Week, weekend edition of Republica National Daily, based in Kathmandu.

Bibek also blogged for the New-York based South Asian Journalists Association and has filed stories from Kathmandu to Kashmir and Durban to Dallas, Delhi, London and Moscow.

He has an undergraduate degree in journalism from Texas Christian University and a postgraduate degree specializing in online journalism from University of Westminster in London.
